This is the goddess Athena. In this picture you can see her beauty, her shield, and her spear that shows her being the god of war and battle strategy.
Athena goddess of wisdom, war, battle strategy, household arts and crafts, and spinning and weaving of textiles. Her parents were Zeus the king of all gods, god of the sky and weather, law and order of fate. Her mom was Metis a nymph, which is a beautiful maiden they make their own marks on trees, waters, and mountains. Athena’s mom Metis was eaten by Zeus and this is why. A prophecy had told Zeus, that one of his children would overrule him, he turned Metis into a fly and then ate her. Zeus had started getting a really bad headache and he demanded Hephaestus of his to crack open his head and out popped Athena, full grown and with armor.
Athena was a virgin but she did have a child. His name is Erichthonious who was half man half serpent. He was born because their had been a failed rape attempt in Mount Olympus. His father Hephaestus the god of craftsmen ship seed fell on Earth and went into Athena. He was born on land and locked into a chest because he was so ugly. Athena gave the chest to the daughters of another god. She told them not to open it. When they did open it they were so stunned at his ugliness that they killed themselves.
Athena and Medusa don’t like each other. Medusa was a gorgon sister and was the only mortal one. Medusas beauty was so stunning a lot of guys liked her. Her looks attracted Poseidon the god of the sea. They met in Athena’s temple the Parthenon, they had intercourse and Medusa had gotten pregnant. Some research says that Medusa encouraged it, others say she was taken advantage of and raped. Athena had gotten so mad about it because she was interested in Poseidon and he wanted Medusa. Athena than heard what happened and gave Medusa snakes for her hair, a body of a dragon and she had eyes that turned people into stone.
There is another study of Medusa and Athena. Medusa was said to never seen the sun because she lived North. She went to go call to Athena and see if she was able to see the sun, Athena had said no. Medusa was mad and said that she wouldn’t let her because she was mad that Medusa was better looking. Athena got mad and removed her hair for snakes, her eyes so when you looked into them they turned to stone, and a body of the dragon.
Athena had helped create someone named Pandora. Haephetus created her, by Zeus’ command and Athena taught her how to spin on the wheel. So she kind of had like another child. Pandora had a special box. You weren’t allowed to open the box ever. One day Pandora had opened the box because she was curious as to what was in it and out flew every kind of disease, sickness, hate, envy and anything bad that no one had experienced before in their lives.
Athena is known by many names, they are, Athene, and Pallas Athena. Athena is sometimes known by Pallas Athena because she killed her friend Pallas the goddess of war craft and the Greek campaign season of late spring and early summer. She didn’t mean to kill her it was an accident they were practicing spearing and she killed her. To show her sadness of Pallas’ death and sorrow she decided to add it to her name to show her way of sympathy.
In the Odyssey Athena asks her dad Zeus to aid Odysseus so he can get home to Ithica with his family. She tells Telemachus to go and find his dad so that he can get his dad home and he can learn about him.
Athena knew all the ways of math and she taught gods and goddess cooking, sewing, and weaving to women and even mortals. She wanted to do this because she wanted to educate the people along with educateing the god and goddess.
Zeus let Athena use his lightning bolt in battle sometimes because she was his favorite child because the prophecy said that a son of his would overrule him, stating the pregnancy of Metis. When he ate Metis and he had his head cracked open he was relived it was a girl. He told her all the secrets, he sought her advise frequently because she was the goddess of wisdom.
Athena has a big family these are some of the people who belong in her family. Zeus (father), Metis (mother), Hera goddess of marriage, (step-mother and aunt) Demeter goddess of agriculture, Hestia goddess of earth home and Family (aunts), Poseidon, Hades god of the underworld (uncles) Hephaestus, Ares god of war, Apollo god of prophecy music and hearing, Hermes messenger of gods, (half-brothers), Aphrodite goddess of love, Artemis goddess of hunt, Persephone Hades’ wife (half-sisters), Cupid god of love (nephews), Triton messenger of the sea, Arion horse son of Poseidon and Demeter (cousins), Oceanus (maternal grandfather), Tethys (maternal grandmother).
This is Athena's Parthenon. It was given to her by her father Zeus.
This is Athena's shield she uses it battle. If you look closely you can see Medusa's head in the middle of the shield.
The owl represents Athena because it is a symbol of of wisdom and Athena is the goddess of wisdom.
